Absalom Gibbs

Absalom Gibbs was considered to be one of the richest Black men in the state of Delaware throughout the 1850s and 1860s. He was a mason and builder who made bricks for many of the homes and buildings around the town of Camden. Gibbs owned a considerable amount of land in and around Camden, with his main holding around East St. and extended from US 13.
