Warner Mifflin

b. 1745, d. 1798

Warner Mifflin was a Quaker who lived just south of Camden. His home was on a tract of land called “Chestnut Grove,” located just south of Locksmith Way. Mifflin came from a slave-holding family, but freed his slaves and became a strong abolitionist. Mifflin bought 436 acres of the tract of land called Brecknock in 1780 and then sold 112 acres to his brother, Daniel, and the rest of the land to John and Thomas Edmondson. This land became Camden.
