Alexander Jackson

b. 1827, d. 1904

Alexander Jackson was a lawyer, philosopher, and philanthropist. He lived at 12 North Main St. in the house that Daniel Mifflin built. Jackson had an iron tombstone, which weighed several tons, made before he died. He sat on the front porch and watched it go by his house. It is about 6 feet wide and 4 feet tall and can be seen on Rising Sun road. Prior to his death, he decided to give his estate, estimated to be $100,000, (over a million dollars today) to friends and relatives.
