Cooper House
15 North Main Street

The Cooper House was built in 1782 by Jabez Jenkins and was part of the Underground Railroad in the 1800s. It is said to have a hidden room above the kitchen that sheltered people escaping enslavement heading north. The room has since been covered over. The current residents opened the room and found evidence that indicated people could have been hidden there. Also, it has been said that there was a tunnel between the Cooper house and the house next door located at 11 North Main St. No evidence has been found to confirm this.
